The Woven Collection is a collection of rings and bracelets made using a peyote beadve weaving technique.

Examples of peyote stitch date back to Ancient Egypt, where notably, artifacts from the tomb of King Tutankhamun (1332–1323 B.C.) contained peyote-stitched beadwork. (Source: Interweave) Indigenous tribes have been using peyote beading for centuries. The peyote stitch got its modern name from the Kiowa and Comanche Tribes in the 1800s for use in peyote ceremonies. Modern indigenous beadwork uses the peyote stitch in jewelry,  and traditional objects.

All of our peyote jewelry is made with Miyuki delica beads.  The beadworking process can take anywhere from 1 to over 20 hours.  The Rare Zebra makes patterns that are unique, or simple. We offer custom designs to make using designer Oksana Designs out of Ukraine. Out of respect for the indigenous community, The Rare Zebra doesn't make designs deemed to be indigenous in nature.  We work with several indigenous individuals to ensure our products don't duplicate any indigenous designs.
